Imal – First Lankan to be on Asia Pacific Effie jury

The Confederation of Asian Advertising Agency Associations has proudly announced the appointment of Imal Fonseka, renowned marketer and CEO of Ceylon Biscuits, to the jury of the Asia Pacific Effie Awards, making him the first Sri Lankan to be nominated for this prestigious position.  

Fonseka’s experience is extensive and he is best known for the launch and the subsequent market leadership of Panadol in Vietnam in addition to working across the markets of the greater Mekong area. He was subsequently associated with the groundbreaking ‘Ministry of Enjoyment’ campaign in Singapore during his time with Coca-Cola Far-East. To add to this impressive experience, Fonseka has chaired the Effie Awards Sri Lankan edition jury in both 2009 and 2012. 

The Effie Awards are known by advertisers and agencies globally as the pre‐eminent award in the industry. Introduced by the New York American Marketing Association in 1968, the Effie Awards have since been recognized by advertisers and agencies as the global standard of marketing effectiveness excellence. The award now celebrates effectiveness worldwide with the Global Effie, APAC Effie, Euro Effie, Middle East/North Africa Effie and North America Effie and some 40 national Effie programmes.
