The Chartered Institute of Marketing recently concluded its 23rd CIM Graduation and Investiture Ceremony at the BMICH, which was attended by over 500 people.

Over 90 diplomates, who had completed the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing during examinations held in the year 2014, graduated as members of the marketing fraternity as qualified professionals. In the history of CIM Sri Lanka, we have produced many prize winners. We are fortunate once again to produce 19 Sri Lankan prize winners, one Best stage prize for the Professional Certificate in Marketing and three world prize winners. The winners of the World Awards were S. Nagasinghe for the subject Emerging Themes, T.M.L.R. Medawatte for Marketing Leadership and Planning and T. Rajakaruna for Managing Corporate Reputation. The ceremony also recognized and inducted 16 new CIM Members (MCIM).

With customer sentiment on topics such as sustainability, ethics and brand attitude rapidly evolving, marketing strategies must be responsive now more than ever, or risk failure, said CIM UK Board of Trustees Chairman Matthew Neilson, who attended the event as the guest of  honour. Neilson is also the Associate Director, Customer Engagement and Marketing, NHS National Services, Scotland.

“Marketing is at the heart of any successful business strategy and marketers have always been at the forefront of business growth.  This is especially true in today’s rapidly developing technological, social and business environments, Neilson said. “The CIM qualification you gain today is recognized across the world as the sign of marketing professionalism and excellence. You can be sure that employers will recognize the skills you bring and the value you can add to their business.” CIM Sri Lanka President Stuart Chapman, CIM Sri Lanka Chairman Sanjika Perera and Head of Education Sumudu Thanthirigoda were also present at this grand occasion.

“In passing what is recognized as one of the world’s most recognized marketing qualifications, you have demonstrated your marketing knowledge, your commitment to work hard and work smart for success. These qualities will ensure success in your marketing career. Achieving the CIM Postgraduate Diploma is just the beginning of a commitment to lifelong learning,” commented CIM Sri Lanka Chairman Sanjika Perera.

Creating history CIM Sri Lanka, the premier local body for professional marketers, hosted its first-ever Graduation Ceremony in December 1992.
