Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) recently concluded the judging process for NASCO 2015 – the premier national event dedicated to recognise, honour and reward sales people in Sri Lanka, amidst record numbers in participation.
This year has seen the highest number of entries as well as the highest number of companies participating in the history of the event and has attracted several multinational giants and diversified local conglomerates.
Furthermore, SLIM NASCO 2015 features the highest number of judges and the first-ever female judge in NASCO history.
SLIM NASCO Project Chair Ranga Perera spoke about the significance of this year’s event and its landmark achievements.
“This is a record-breaking year on several counts for NASCO and it signifies the growing stature of the event.
Over the years it has solidified its position as the premier national event for sales people by building a positive perception of the sales profession. This has benefitted a large number of companies by motivating their sales staff to realise their full potential. Ultimately this stimulates economic growth, fulfilling SLIM’s vision as the premier national body responsible for promoting the sales profession in Sri Lanka.”
SLIM NASCO 2015 has received over 350 entries under the categories of territory manager, sales executive and front-liner. While each category will have three awards – Gold, Silver and Bronze – there is a single award for females covering all three categories.
The period under review for the awards was the year ending December 31, 2014 and the interviews were held during the period of July 1 to 18 at Waters Edge.
The esteemed panel of judges includes highly experienced and respected figures from the sales field and is led by Fonterra Sri Lanka General Sales Manager Stephen Paulraj. CBL Group Group Director/Head of Sales and Marketing Nandana Wickramage acts as the advisor to the panel of judges.
The NASCO 2015 Gala ceremony will take place on July 24, at Waters Edge. Due to the high number of nominations this year, the organisers request the public to reserve tickets soon as there will be limited tickets on sale.
The NASCO awards are being presented for the 15th consecutive year and the participating companies have been classified under 15 sectors. The sectors for nominations include fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), financial services and banking, industrial, media, consumer durables, telecommunication, fashion and clothing, healthcare, modern retail, travel and leisure, insurance, alcohol and tobacco and corporate selling.
SLIM NASCO was launched 15 years ago to recognise the best of the best in the sales profession and nurtures the sales fraternity enhancing the learning curve in salesmanship and management.
It also facilitates cross industry sales learning, imparts greater exposure to the country’s sales professionals, builds confidence among the wide spectrum of participants and comprehensively develops the leadership and presentation skills of participants.
SLIM has been promoting marketing and sales excellence in Sri Lanka since 1970. It is a member of the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) and Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL).
Internationally it is affiliated with ESOMAR, the Federation of Marketing Research Industries and is a member of the Asia Marketing Federation, which is affiliated to the World Marketing Association.
