Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) has initiated a major expansion of its education arm with plans to establish several new accredited study centres around the country this year.
Education institutes which are interested in conducting SLIM Education programs under the SLIM Flag, are invited to apply to become accredited study centres.
This expansion drive is part of SLIM President Kalana Rathnayaka’s theme for SLIM for 2014/15, ‘Gather for Greatness’. Under this banner he has succeeded in gathering all stakeholders around the national body for marketing and has formulated a clear strategic path which is firmly growth-oriented. At present, there is a major focus on expanding the educational programs in the geographical sense and thereby strengthening the marketing fraternity.
Rathnayaka invited educational institutes to partner SLIM in fulfilling it national responsibility.
“As the national body for marketing SLIM has a national level responsibility to promote marketing and uplift the marketing fraternity in all parts of the country and I invite education institutes to partner us in this endeavour. This expansion drive will benefit a large number of Sri Lankans and contribute to SLIM’s ultimate vision of leading the nation’s efforts towards economic prosperity.”
Currently SLIM offers its educational programsat ISOFT Technologies – Batticaloa, Chamber Academy – Galle and FCCISL centres in Colombo, Kandy, Gampaha, Kurunegala, Rathnapura, Matara and Badulla. All SLIM accredited institutes have the opportunity to offer the most sought after proprietary programs in the fields of marketing, sales and branding in Sri Lanka.
SLIM CEO / Executive Director Sanath Senanayake said, “The programs offered by SLIM are renowned for their world-class standard and high quality and are recognized both locally and internationally. Our institute has taken great efforts to develop these programs to their current state and the main motivation behind that has always been our desire to serve the nation better.”
The programs which are offered by SLIM accredited institutes include the Preliminary Certificate in Marketing (PCM), which is the most sought after and recognized entry level qualification for marketing in Sri Lanka and is one of the world’s best short courses in marketing.
PCM has undergone many revisions since its introduction in 1988 in order to meet the ever growing challenges of the industry and the Tamil program was added recently in order to make it accessible to the Tamil speaking population. It is not restricted to people in the field of marketing or pursuing a future in marketing and is highly beneficial to individuals pursuing careers in a variety of fields, as marketing is such an essential aspect of entrepreneurship and business growth.
