Cambio holds Developer’s Day – CaDD 2015

Cambio Software Engineering  in Colombo , a fully owned subsidiary of Cambio Healthcare Systems in Stockholm, Sweden, recently held their first ever Developer’s Day  (CaDD 2015) at the Mount Lavinia Beach Hotel.

Cambio Healthcare Systems AB is a leading enterprise healthcare application developer with a user base of over 100,000 medical professionals in Sweden, Denmark & UK providing coverage for about four million patients in these countries. Cambio Software Engineering (CSE) is its R&D center in Sri Lanka, providing employment for over 260 Software Engineering professionals; many from leading local universities.

Over 50 percent of CSE staff is software developers. CaDD 2015 was organized with the objective of improving skills, creating awareness of latest technologies, encouraging innovative thinking and increasing team spirit and motivation through a series of fun and exciting activities.

Twelve teams participated in the CaDD 2015, competing against each other in, designing and developing innovative products, a technical quiz, providing solutions for optimizing the Cambio’s product performance.

In addition there were several key note speeches by two special guests from Cambio Healthcare Systems AB, Sweden who attended the occasion.
Kristoffer Lundberg, Chief Architect, Cambio delivered a talk on the Software Application Performance Optimization and the use of in-house developed custom tools to monitor and trace performance issues while Anders Johansson, an Application Manager at Cambio talked about the complexities of managing a production environment running Cambio’s flagship enterprise healthcare product. He explained the required techniques and tools for monitoring and fine tuning a high performance, scalable, mission critical enterprise healthcare application.

After several heated competitions, several victors emerged, bagging away a total of Rs. 200,000 of prize money for various categories that included the Best Team, Innovative Development, Application Design, Product Optimization and the Tech Quiz.

The CaDD 2015 was organized by the Technology Collaboration Group in Sri Lanka headed by Software Architect Shanmugam Senthilkumar. Speaking at the occasion he stated that, getting the developers to learn and work with new technologies through an exciting event is an effective way creating enthusiasm, innovation and team spirit among the developers. Thus, the CaDD 2015 was designed with this vision in mind.

Director of Cambio Software Engineering Sushena Ranatunga also addressed the developers, stating that, the importance of creating time from busy schedules for learning activities such as the CaDD 2015, will contribute to brining better productivity from the developers. 

The General Manager of Cambio Software Engineering, Dharshana Jayawardena stated that a major objective of the CaDD 2015 was to create a “community feeling” among the developers and the event had very successfully achieved this objective. He also added that that, in the future, Cambio will plan to host a Developer Day as a regular annual event.
