A top Microsoft official has expressed interest to assist Sri Lanka to improve its computer literacy and to speed-up the country’s digitalization process.
Jean Philippe Courtois, President of Microsoft International, a sales and services unit covering over 110 countries, said this during a meeting he had with the Sri Lankan delegation to World Economic Forum in Davos led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Courtois pointed out that world is heading towards a paperless office environment and stressed the importance to gradually adapt to the change.
Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Development Minister Harin Fernando, who was part of the Sri Lanka delegation, told Courtois that Sri Lanka has identified this shift and is in the process of laying out the initial plans to make Sri Lankan office to technology-equipped seamless work places. Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malik Samarawickra, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister Saman Athaudahetti and Advisor to Development Strategies and International Trade Ministry Mangala Yapa were also present during the meeting.
