Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has come forward as the Principal sponsor of Sri Lanka’s national ICT expo Infotel-2016 for the sixth consecutive year.
Infotel-2016 will be held from November 11 to 13, at the BMICH under the theme of ‘Empowering Digital Citizens’. This event is organised by the Federation of Information Technology Industry of Sri Lanka (FITIS) in collaboration with the Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure, Higher Education, Education, Defence, Foreign Affairs and Skills Development and Vocational Training Ministries and several other private sector institutions.
Expressing his views on this sponsorship, SLT Group Chief Executive Officer Dileepa Wijesundera said, “Infotel-2016 will revolve around the theme of ‘Empowering Digital Citizens’, which is timely and relevant at present. Sri Lanka Telecom, being the national ICT solutions provider in Sri Lanka, is passionate about ensuring ICT accessibility for all, with a view of enhancing the living standards of people and bringing about transformations in people’s lives as well as business organisations.
Thus, it was a privilege for us to partner with the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) once again this year to support and empower Infotel-2016 in the capacity of Principal sponsor,” further Wijesundera added.
Infotel-2016 will be the platform for industrialist, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, academia and business community in the ICT industry to showcase their products, innovations, research and development initiatives, etc.
Specially, this time, the event will have ‘ICT – Start-up Sri Lanka’ pavilion, which creates a great opportunity to small and medium-scale entrepreneurs and people who just enter into product development in the ICT industry to promote themselves to giants in the industry.
“As the driving force of the ICT industry, FITIS has taken this initiative to support start-ups for their business expansions and promotions. We are really proud to have many more ICT start-ups at Infotel-2016,” said Infotel-2016 Main Organising Committee Chairman and FITIS–Hardware Chapter President Sudath Amarasinghe.
The Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) is the national partner of the Infotel-2016 exhibition, while Orange IT has confirmed as the Gold sponsor.
Also it is partnered by Sala Enterprises, Java Institute for Advanced Technology as Silver sponsors, Wijeya Newspapers as the Print Media and Web partner, Payhere as the Digital Payment partner, ATOM as the Digital Signage partner. The SLASSCOM, CSSL and BCS Sri Lanka Section have endorsed the event as Industry partners.
