Sri Lanka Telecom launches first-ever digital excellence awards

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) recently announced the launch of the first-ever digital excellence awards, ‘SLT Zero One Awards for Digital Excellence’, which is organised to recognize and appreciate institutions and individuals as well as brands 
in their quest for excellence in digital initiatives. 


The announcement was made recently at a media conference held at The Hilton Colombo. 
Sri Lanka Telecom Group Chairman Kumarasinghe Sirisena said that as the digital landscape is becoming increasingly popular in today’s technologically-driven society, if it is used strategically, it can be effectively leveraged to meet the marketing objectives of organisations and businesses. 
“Sri Lanka has come a long way in terms of digital initiatives; however, there is still a need to encourage and support organisations and individuals to embrace digital innovations and make maximum use of what this digital age has to offer, especially in terms of executing marketing strategies and campaigns,” he said. 
SLT Group Chief Executive Officer Dileepa Wijesundera said that SLT has introduced a number of revolutionary platforms over the years and he is privileged to oversee the success of the organisation. By recognizing the individuals and companies involved in the digital media platform, it will give them a valuable recognition and a motivation to drive them 
towards success.


“The Zero One Awards will be open to a wide audience, which includes individuals, agencies, SMEs, brands, multinationals and students. This is the only platform available today for participants to showcase their talent in the digital media sphere, being an annual event. SLT will continue to play a dominant role in this market,” 
he added. 


Through this initiative, the company aims to champion digital excellence in the country and provide the necessary platform and impetus for growth and innovation of the digital media sector in Sri Lanka. Further, this award will create the platform for agencies, brands, individuals and companies to push for excellence in the digital media sphere, 
by recognizing and celebrating excellence of local talents in 
digital media.


Delivering his speech Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Minister Harin Fernando said that he is privileged to see that SLT is taking the next step towards making a platform for a digitalized Sri Lanka. 


Throughout the years SLT has introduced a number of revolutionary platforms to the masses and our ministry has undertaken a lot of effort to take these initiatives to the next level. By next year we will start digitalizing many public sector organizations so I am sure by recognizing individuals and companies who has brilliant ideas in this field will be crucial for us to make our efforts a success.
