The Sri Lankan leg of the TADHack telecom application development hackathon is to be held on September 10 and 26 with the aim of promoting the winners to market their solutions internationally.
Organised by hSenid Mobile Solutions, this year’s TADHack will be held at the Dialog Axiata head office in Colombo as well
as in Jaffna.
TADHack is the only global meeting place for developers who want to learn, share, code and create using the tools and technologies available in telecommunications.
Sri Lanka has the world’s largest telco applications developer ecosystem. Ideamart, developed for Dialog by hSenid, provides a key platform for any individual or any company to create its very own app.
The winners of the local leg of the international event will receive US $ 1,000 and will join the international teams in competition for a US $ 42,000 ultimate prize, which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal.
Every year, since this event was started in 2014, there have been unique applications developed, which have gained the attention of Sri Lanka’s tech community. Every year, over 150 teams participate in the 24-hour hackathons in both Colombo and Jaffna.
This year’s competition will be held under four themes: hospitality, education, health and sustainable development. Professionals from these key sectors will also be at the hackathon, which would help the developers to interact with them and share their knowledge.
hSenid Mobile founder and CEO Dinesh Saparamadu said that this would provide the opportunity for both parties to brainstorm together so that they can come up with innovative solutions.
“We want to bring something innovative so that we can market it to international clients who are always on the lookout for innovative solutions,” he added.
Last year, hSenid Mobile also hosted the event in Bangladesh, while the global event took place simultaneously in 15 locations across 11 countries around the world. This year’s event will be held at 30 locations in 30 countries.
The telecom application developer initiative was started in 2013 as a grassroots effort to build an ecosystem focused on telecom application development. This brings together businesses, developers and non-coders, who are interested in using telecom capabilities in their applications, services or business processes.
