chargeNET named United Nations World Summit Award Winner 2017

chargeNET has been selected the World Summit Award (WSA) Grand Jury, as best and most innovative Digital Innovation with high impact on society 2017, in the category ‘Smart Settlement and Urbanization’. chargeNET, a subsidiary of CodeGen International (Pvt) Ltd., is the only winner from Sri Lanka, and will join a prestigious list; World’s Top 40 Digital Innovators 2017. 


ChargeNET is an end-to-end solution for electric vehicle charging, a unified network that is scalable, efficient and smart, powered by IoT technology. All products are designed and manufactured according to J1772 and CHAdeMO international standards, and is a 100 percent local solution for B2C and B2B segments. chargeNET mobile and cloud based web applications, enable smart monitoring, smart payments and easy station management for a 24-7-365 operation. 


The WSA is a global initiative within the framework of the United Nations World Summit on the information Society (WSIS). Over400 nominated submissions, from 98 UN member states participated in this year´s WSA contest. A jury comprising of experts from around the world deliberated for four days to come up with the final list of winners, and Sri Lanka made it to the winning list. 


ICT Agency of Sri Lanka, Chairperson, Chitranganie Mubarak stated, “The WSA introduced a new category ‘Smart Settlement and Urbanization’ as one out of the eight categories given the increasing global push to safeguard our environment, to promote green energy. It takes a while for a new category to catch on – so it was all the more creditable that chargeNET, a fully home-grown product, made it to the top. It made me very proud. I must say the Grand Jury was impressed!”
