CICRA Campus begins first batch of Executive MSc in Information Security

The first batch of Executive MSc in Information Security program offered by CICRA Campus of CICRA Consultancies (Pvt) Ltd and awarded by Asia e University, Malaysia commenced recently in Sri Lanka.

“This MSc is purposely developed to address the needs of Sri Lankan IT security domain, So most of the content were re-visited and localized appropriately,” Boshan Dayaratne, Director/ CEO, CICRA Holdings said.

“The demand for the program is very encouraging and it is a pleasure that we have more than 50 registrations for the launch class and we have announced call for applications for the intake 2,” Dayaratne said.

Meanwhile, several top executives attending the launch class also spoke.

“The most important aspects of this course are its rich curriculum and faculty, which is a great opportunity for many professionals to acquire knowledge and accreditation,” said Hans Thomasz, Senior Information Security Officer, Qatar Bank in Qatar.
“CICRA is the first institution to bring this kind of a versatile degree program to the country and with that it is clearly proven that CICRA is nationwide leader in information security training and consultancy,” said Mr. Thomasz.
Indika Gunawardena, Group CIO of Laugfs Holdings Ltd said that there is a skills shortage in IT security domain against the rapidly increasing IT security concerns. 
“This MSc offers a multi-disciplinary perspective to the subject, combined with a more practical and application oriented approach to offer the right blend of knowledge foundation in information security,” Gunawardena said.
Thaha Thowfeek, Department Head of IT of the MCB Bank Ltd said that this program is unique because of updated and customized course contents matching local requirements and international standards.
“It is noteworthy the professionalism showed in course structuring, application and interviewing process and also the delivering of lectures. Recognition of UGC Sri Lanka and the well qualified lecturer panel indeed has enhanced the program quality,” Tawfeeq said.
Ravindra Thalagahawatta, Manager - IT Security of the Union Bank said that there is no doubt that this program enables students to understand and apply best practices, as it has been designed to cater current requirements in the information security landscape.
The program is the first masters’ degree program developed in consideration of local corporate needs while allowing learning flexibility for working adults.
CICRA is an international partner of AeU, which is present in 33 countries across Asia. It was established under Asia Cooperation Dialogue, in which Sri Lanka is a member. AeU is recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka and also accepted by Malaysian Examination Department.
