The Guest of Honour was Jos Creese, President of BCS (UK). A total of 193 students were awarded the BCS PGD this year with a further 273 students completing the Certificate level and another 271 completing the Diploma level.
In addition to the student awards, ESOFT also received a Gold award in the Large Scale Institute category for the second consecutive year. The award for the Best Emerging Centre was presented to the ESOFT regional campus in Galle. As the world’s largest training provider of British Computer Society (BCS - Chartered Institute for IT) courses, ESOFT has produced an outstanding 50 plus World and Sri Lankan prize winners to date and is Sri Lanka’s only accredited course provider for the internationally recognised qualification.
The BCS HEQ qualification is the fastest path to a UK Degree level qualification – namely, the three levels of the BCS can be completed within 18 to 20 months which is half the time that one would invest in a Degree programme. Thanks to its modular design, students have the flexibility to follow it in different ways. Some choose to study for either the Certificate and Diploma levels in one sitting or the Diploma and PGD levels in one sitting, thereby reducing the overall time to complete the programme. There are two examination sittings per year - April and October. This too enhances the opportunity to complete the qualification at the earliest. Moreover, studying for the BCS at ESOFT is a highly economical option with the total investment including course fees, textbooks and examination fees costing approximately Rs. 330,000.
BCS courses are offered at ESOFT branches in Colombo, Kandy, Kurunegala, Galle, Matara, Gampaha, Nugegoda, Negombo, Jaffna, and Batticaloa. Classes are held in part time mode on weekends or weekday evenings with fulltime classes also available for those who wish to receive additional value through the popular BCS Plus programme.
