The National Mobile Service Provider Mobitel in partnership with CodeGen International launched a superior integrated management solution comprising iCard and CloudSchool technology on behalf of the Bandaranayake College, Gampaha recently.

The inaugural launch of the technological solution which was introduced to Sri Lanka for the very first time was held in the presence of Chief Guest President Maithripala Sirisena.

Bandaranayake College, Gampaha is the first school in the country to obtain the services of the superior management solution which is designed especially for schools with the integration of Mobitel’s iCard and CodeGen’s CloudSchool solution. Together both technologies present a sophisticated platform that supports the communication between teachers, students and parents, while also streamlining the school’s administerial processes that will save money and time spent on traditional administrative methods in the state funded school.

Mobitel iCard was launched in 2012 and is the only unique solution in Sri Lanka that facilitates an NFC technology-based attendance information management system for schools without relying on the traditional register marking method. The technology allows parents to be informed about a student’s daily school attendance in real time through daily SMS notifications. Parents can also utilise a phone based interface to check the last time a student tapped their attendance card to be better informed about their whereabouts.

Meanwhile the CloudSchool, designed and developed by CodeGen is an all-inclusive management solution that is solely designed for schools in Sri Lanka.  As part of a CodeGen International educational initiative, the CloudSchool provides a wide range of solutions to increase a school’s efficiency level.  The CloudSchool provides comprehensive functionality to school staff and ensures effective data management which supports the streamlining of processes, saves time, promotes communication and assists in making informed decisions.  The solution offers cost-effectiveness as it does not require any hosting or server management. CloudSchool also reduces paper and labor costs incurred in maintaining a manual information system. Furthermore the user friendly interface requires very little training for users which provides easy access to the system. Students have easy access to school information and assessment details through the system while being able to access past examination and assessment details. Parents meanwhile can stay updated on a child’s school information and receive reports on school progression. This unique solution is expected to be introduced to many other schools in Sri Lanka in partnership with CodeGen.
