ShipXpress Inc., a provider of cloud-based software solutions has been named the platinum sponsor of ACES Coders v5.0, an annual programming competition which was held at the University of Peradeniya on June 12th and 13th.

The event was organized by the Association of Computer Engineering Students (ACES) of the Faculty of Engineering of the Peradeniya University.

Commencing five years ago, ACES Coders began as a training event for computer engineering students to improve their efficiency and accuracy through a series of problems which can be solved by displaying various programming skills.

ACES soon gained popularity and is now the country’s largest coding competition that is attended by some of the brightest students from both local and private universities for a 12 hour coding competition that starts from 7pm and ends at 7am.

This year, 100 teams with over 300 students from over 25 universities from across the island took part. This included the University of Peradeniya, University of Colombo, University of Moratuwa, University of Jaffna, University of Ruhuna, Rajarata University, Sabaragamuwa University, Uva Wellassa University, Wayamba University, South Eastern University, NIBM, NSBM, BCAS, SLIIT and APIIT.

“ShipXpress understands the importance of building the next generation of Sri Lanka’s programmers. We are excited to have sponsored ACES Coders v5.0,” says Chandana Perera, Senior Project Manager at ShipXpress. “This coding competition, and others similar to it, encourages the development of our youth and contributes to shaping sustainable futures for software companies such as ourselves.”

The winner of this year’s competition was the University of Moratuwa, while a team from the same university came in 2nd place and the University of Peradeniya came in 3rd Place. The winning teams also received attractive cash prizes.
