Now the consumers can experience what they loved on their smartphone or tablet, even bigger with the new ‘Bravia Android TV’, which was launched in Sri Lanka recently.

Themed, ‘Bravia meets Android TV’, the most striking feature of the latest addition is the ultra thin floating style, making it the world’s thinnest 4K Ultra HD TV with edge-to edge viewing.

“Standing 4.9mm, it is slimmer than most of your wallets, this will be a perfect fit for any living room” said, Razali Yaacub, Head of marketing, Sony South East Asia.

“Internet Television will never be the same with Sony, now what you learn on your phone now you can enjoy seamlessly on your Sony Android Television” he stressed.

For the first time, the new Bravia W800C Series and X series models will support Google’s latest Android TV operating system, making it easy to stream video, function as a gaming device and provide enhanced features like Google Play, Google Cast and voice search.

Speaking to Mirror Business, Chong Shoulian, Senior Executive, Sony South East Asia said, this is something new to the market and what is important about this product is how you connect your phone to the television.

“Three points I want to bring across is, Google Play, Google Cast and voice search, ‘Google Play’ is the Google store, so let’s say I’m playing a game on my phone, so what I can do is with the Google Play account that I have, I can connect from my phone and continue on TV, so it is really allowing customers/smartphone users to enjoy the game from a smaller inch size phone on to a bigger screen”.

“Google Cast, the main message will be to multi task, so all of us are multi tasked. we check e-mails, message on our phone, most importantly let’s say I’m watching a youtube video, I want to share it on the TV with my friends, so what I do is I Google Cast that videos, then what happens is once the video is on the TV, I can continue using my phone as if i am just multi tasking”.

“Voice search is about literally asking a question on Google rather than typing,” she explained.

Voice search function uses voice recognition technology to automatically retrieve whatever the person is looking for which is available through a remote or mobile phone equipped with a microphone.

Commenting on the new product, Rajen Udeshi, Director, Siedles Pvt Ltd. said, unlike before today people don’t want to be restricted by TV channels as they want to select what to watch and when to watch.

“Today it is not unusual to watch a music video while at the gym, all these possible because of the increased internet availability. Statistics shows, internet users in Sri Lanka from 2012-2105 increased from 2.5 million- 2.8 million”. “Families and friends find it more enjoyable to watch pictures on a 50 inch television rather than in a 10 inch tablet. Similarly the online shopping experience will be more enjoyable on a large screen than a tablet” he said.

The X-Protection PRO feature, gives a solid durability for the TV since it gives protection from  humidity, surge, lightning and dust and it’s no-ventilation-hole design and improved coating solution, shields the television from external threats. Mahesh Wijewardene Director, Marketing and Commercial, Singer Sri Lanka PLC said, Sony has become stronger in the market in 2015, with two strong distributors, Siedles Pvt Ltd. and Singer Sri Lanka actively promoting the brand. Sony Corporation is a Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation, which is one of the leading manufacturers of electronic products for the consumer and professional markets.
