Virtusa hosts Converse 2015 Graduate Meetup Programme

Virtusa Corporation, a global business consulting and IT outsourcing company that combines innovation, technology leadership and industry solutions to transform the customer experience, hosted over 300 undergraduate students from leading universities and educational institutions across Sri Lanka at the Virtusa Converse 2015 Graduate Meetup event in Colombo. 

As part of the company’s Campus Reach initiative, students received the opportunity to learn more about Virtusa and how the company helps global companies reimagine their future through innovative and transformational solutions. Technical sessions on the work that Virtusa does included presentations by Shiham Nawaz on Business Process Management (BPM), Jagath De Silva on Quality Assurance (QA) and Nishantha Hettiarachchi on emerging technologies, as a potential career tracks. 

Offering a glimpse of life at Virtusa, a panel of Virtusans shared their personal experiences. Participants were also apprised of opportunities available at the company, both in permanent and internship roles.

Virtusa Director Human Resources Chandi Dharmaratne said, “At Virtusa, we believe that the ingenuity and efforts of our largely millennial talent pool is what gives us an added edge in the marketplace. As part of our talent development efforts, we constantly endeavor to nurture the next generation of Virtusans. Events such as this allow us to showcase the work we do and the global opportunities we offer in order to stimulate these young minds to explore, innovate and reimagine the digital world.”

Later, final year students were invited to take part in a primary evaluation examination to facilitate their application to openings at Virtusa. A Twitter-based competition was also held during the event where students were asked to send in their tweets on an innovative application for Big Data tagged to the handle #VirtusaConverse15. Sasitha Pieris, a final year BSc Information Science and Technology student from American National College (ANC), was adjudged the winner of this contest.
