Worms, Germany (dpa) - A mourning march on Saturday evening in the western German city of Worms called by friends and family of a 21-year-old woman who was killed by a failed asylum seeker drew 500 people, according to the police.

Her 22-year-old Tunisian boyfriend (a failed asylum seeker) is being held in custody on suspicion of murder.

In front of the victim’s home, where the woman was stabbed on Wednesday night, the marchers lit candles and laid flowers. The mood at the rally organized by relatives and friends was peaceful.

“Everything is very quiet,” said a spokesman for the Worms police department.

Police protection measures have also been activated for Mayor Michael Kissel following a death threat, a police spokesman said on Saturday without giving details about the nature of or motive for the threat.
