Bamako (dpa), 19 april 2019 - Malian Prime Minister Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga and his government resigned on Thursday, weeks after more than 100 people died in an attack by gunmen on a village in central Mali.

President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita had accepted the resignations, his office said in a statement, which did not specify a reason for them.

“A prime minister will be named very soon and a new government will be put in place after consultations with all political forces from the majority and the opposition,” the statement said.
