Pakistan March 27 (Courtesy : Al Jazeera/Hindustan Times)-Thousands of people started marching to the Pakistani capital Islamabad, Monday in a show of opposition to Prime Minister Imran Khan who is expected to face a vote of no confidence next week.

Supporters from the party of former PM Nawaz Sharif began their “long march” on Saturday in the eastern city of Lahore, the political bastion of Sharif and his Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party, Al Jazeera reported.  Nearly 100 members of the 342-member National Assembly have submitted a no-confidence motion against Khan over, what they allege, a mounting economic crisis in the country. The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party has 155 members and Khan needs support of over 170 lawmakers.

The motion is likely to be taken up on Monday, the Hindustan Times reported.

The 69-year-old PM has already made it clear that he won’t resign. “I will not resign under any circumstance”. he has said.
