A senior Democratic lawmaker in the US House of Representatives stepped down from the Judiciary Committee on Sunday amid allegations of sexual harassment.

Congressman John Conyers is facing an ethics investigation following a media report that said he allegedly settled a 27,000-dollar sexual harassment claim by a former female employee.   “After careful consideration and in light of the attention drawn by recent allegations made against me, I have notified the Democratic Leader of my request to step aside,” Conyers posted on Twitter.
