Train collision in Bavaria leaves two dead, 14 people injured

Munich (dpa), MAY 08 2018 -   At least two people have been killed and 14 injured in a collision between a freight train and a passenger train in Bavaria, German rail officials said late Monday.   
The two fatalities have been identified as the train driver and a passenger.   


A spokesman said two of those hurt had serious injuries.   


The two trains crashed into each other around 9:20 pm on a single stretch of track near Aichach station on the route between Ingolstadt and Augsburg, Deutsche Bahn said.   


The trains were not derailed by the crash.   


The cause of the accident is not yet known and will be investigated.   


Rescue crews were at the scene. Rail traffic on the line has been suspended.   


When rail traffic can resume is unclear. A rail replacement service with buses has been set up. The driver of the car and a passenger were killed. 


The train driver was not hurt. One person on the train was injured.
