Hanoi (dpa),Jun 12 2018-Controversial legislation was passed on Tuesday that will force overseas technology firms to censor content and share data on Vietnamese users with the government, state media reported. The bill passed in Vietnam’s National Assembly with 86.86 per cent of the vote, according to the Tuoi Tre newspaper. Concerns have been raised from some parliamentarians that the bill, which requires foreign firms including Google and Facebook to set up offices in Vietnam and store data on users locally, violates international treaties.
