The coronavirus- Covid 19 – which continues to spread fast across the globe taking a heavy toll on human life, disrupting economies, normal patterns of daily life and causing societal dislocation and immense social unrest is a calamity of perhaps unprecedented proportions that has befallen mankind. 

This virus first observed in Wuhan, Hubei in China in late December 2019 was first identified as a novel virus on January 7, 2020. On March 11, 2020 the WHO declared the coronavirus as a pandemic.

Astrologers attribute the immediate cause for the occurrence of the corona virus to Rahu’s ingress into his own constellation Arudra or Ada in October 2019 and Ketu’s transit in his own constellation Moola in December 2019. Both Rahu and Ketu are responsible for viruses and epidemics. By the way, Rahu is also responsible for reptiles like snakes which give rise to viruses. 

A strange coincidence – a time bomb in wait
By a strange coincidence – which too is a rare occurrence – during the last week of December 2019 six planets Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn Ketu and Pluto converged in the Zodiacal sign of Sagittarius getting the direct aspect of Rahu posited just opposite to them in the Zodiac. Meanwhile, a Solar eclipse occurred on December 2019 which was tantamount to exploding a veritable time bomb. Its astrological effect was spreading fast the virus to the four corners of the earth!

Saturn – Pluto combination
What is more significant is that the afore-mentioned six planet-combination contained within it several other sub-combinations like the Saturn – Pluto conjunction sending out ominous signals. 

Saturn – Pluto combination, another rare event – occurring after 1518, according to eminent savants of the science, is capable of ruining economies and shake up governments and bring hidden threats to light. 

Neptune – Mercury – Saturn combination
Neptune represents viruses and infections.  Mercury rules the lungs. Neptune – Mercury - Saturn combination from January 10 to 13 could have heightened the intensity of the disease.   

Saturn – Mars – debilitated Jupiter combination
A more ominous planetary combination was formed when Jupiter entered the Capricorn zodiacal sign on March 30,2020 to become debilitated when two prominent malefics exalted Mars and Swakshetra Saturn were already posited there – yet another a rare event which occurred after an interval of 793 years!

Uranus in Taurus – possibility of more pandemics
Some astrologers think that yet another foreboding planetary position that had contributed towards the emergence of the coronavirus was the long staying planet Uranus’ current placement in the Zodiacal sign Taurus. Uranus who entered Taurus on March 7, 2019 will transit in it until April 2026.  When in Taurus from 1851 to 1859 Uranus triggered the 3rd cholera pandemic which took a heavier human toll in Russia than elsewhere.  By the way, the World War Two occurred when Uranus was transiting Taurus from 1935 to 1942. So, more pandemics and conflicts at international level are an inherent possibility within the next six years! 

A weak Sun helps spread the virus  
Another significant Astrological factor is that Sun responsible for human health had had become weak due to its placement in Capricorn and Aquarius signs owned by Saturn from mid -November 2019 to mid-March 2020. 

Cumulative effect
Therefore, the Astrological explanation for the current pandemic Covid 19 is that it is the cumulative effect of several malefic planetary combinations.

Respite from the pandemic
Mars leaving Capricorn for Aquarius on May 4 would contribute towards slowing the spread of the virus. A remarkable respite from the pandemic could be expected when the natural benefic Jupiter goes back to his own sign Sagittarius in retrogression on June 30.
