An important aspect of Predictive Astrology

In our previous article on the above topic we discussed the significance of prognosticating disease as well as the parts of the human body governed by each of the 12 signs and Houses and also the body parts and diseases ruled by the nine planets.         

We explained reminded our readers that Astrology is not Fatalism in that it does not say that something predicted by a study of planetary influences is inevitable. And the main purpose of Astrology is to predict a possible misfortune or a fortune in advance to ready the native to meet the situation. If it is some misfortune, a disease or some other misfortune such as loss of wealth or a fatal accident, the native could take timely action to avert the eventuality or mitigate its adverse effect. 

Most students of Astrology may know that it is the 6th House in a horoscope that provides the clue to the nature of possible disease that could afflict a native. The 6th House if afflicted could, of course, create enemies and cause the native fall into debt as well.

As explained by Indian Jyotish Guru Dr. B.V. Raman in his celebrated work, Predictive Astrology, diseases are denoted by the 6th House, planets aspecting it, its lord and the Navamsa occupied by the 6th lord.  The significators or karakas for the 6th House are Saturn and Mars and their strengths or weaknesses also should be taken into account when assessing the 6th House with regard to ascertaining the possibility of disease, the nature of the disease and the part or the parts of the body to be adversely affected. 

The Zodiacal sign falling in the 6th House signifies the affected part or parts of the body. And its lord signifies the nature of diseases likely to be caused by it. It is noteworthy that each afflicted planet associated with the 6th House can cause more than one disease during its Maha Dasa or Antar Dasa. 

We propose to discuss in this article the planetary combinations that could cause specific diseases. If the readers carefully followed the principles relating to the relevance of signs, Houses and planets in regard to body parts and specific diseases, they would be able to grasp the rationale for the following prognostications. 

Frequent illness is to be predicted if malefics occupy the 6th House with no benefic aspect. Native would suffer from poor health if the 6th lord occupies either the 8th or the 12th House.

The 11th lord in the 6th House could cause complicated disease. (Students should note that the 6th is the 8th position when counted from the 11th House.)

If the 6th lord is posited in the Ascendant conjunct with the Sun or Saturn, the native would suffer from Leprosy.
Native would suffer from smallpox if Mars is in the Ascendant aspected by Saturn and the Sun.  Mars and Saturn, Karakas for the 6th House posited in the 6th or the 12th House cause ulcers and other diseases. 

Native would suffer from deafness if Mercury and the 6th lord are aspected by malefics.

If the Moon posited in the 6th, 8th or the 12th House is aspected by a malefic, the native may go blind.
The Moon – Saturn combination in the 12th House could cause insanity.(The Moon rules the mind and its association with the malefic Saturn in the malefic 12th House could cause mental disorder.)

Native would suffer from rheumatism if Saturn is in the Ascendant and Mars is in the 5th, 7th or the 9th House.
A malefic in the 3rd House or Rahu in the 11th aspected by other evil planets may subject the native to defective hearing.

The 2nd and 3rd lord’s conjunct with Rahu can cause ailments affecting the throat.

If Jupiter posited in the 4th House is associated with or aspected by the Sun or Mars could cause heart diseases.
If the Sun, Moon and Mars together occupy the 6th House, the native would suffer from stomach troubles. 

Native would suffer from tuberculosis if the Sun is placed in the sign or the Navamsa of the Moon and the Moon is in the sign or Navamsa of the Sun.

Venus and Mars together in the 8th House can cause diseases of the testicles. 

Native might become impotent if Mercury and Saturn are posited in the 8th House. (The rationale for this rule: that the presence of two eunuchs, Mercury and Saturn in the 8th House governing the sexual organ obviously indicates impotence.)

Mars – Venus combination in the 2nd house indicates eye disease.

Native would suffer from bronchitis when the Sun or the Moon occupies a watery sign (Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces).
Asthma or chronic bronchitis is indicated when Mars is posited in the Cancer Ascendant while being aspected by Saturn.

Urinary troubles can be predicted when Saturn in the 7th House is aspected by Rahu.
