Wealth and health are fundamental requisites for human existence. Wealth is of greater importance as it is essential to maintain good health.
Wealth is something that has to be acquired with effort. True some people inherit wealth, but there should be wealth acquired with effort for someone to inherit.
Four-fold aims of human existence
According to Vedas man is born into this world to fulfil four aims, namely Dharma (Duty), Artha (wealth), Kama (sensual enjoyment) and Moksha. Jyotisha, a Vedanga or a limb of Vedas, recognises the wealth as a basic need of the human being.
In the horoscope or a birth chart of a person, Houses or Bhavas 2 and 11 are devoted to wealth and the 12th House indicates the success or failure in gaining wealth. If the 2nd and 11th House are strong by the virtue of their lords – the planets owning them – being strong, one could lead an affluent life.
Two types of horoscopes
The individual characteristics found in horoscopes tend to differ. All horoscopes can be categorised under two types, material and spiritual.
When the 2nd and 11th Houses are strong due to their lords being strong, the horoscope falls into the ‘material type’. In the case of a horoscope where the 12th House is powerful while the 5th and the 9th House are too strong; the horoscope comes under the ‘spiritual type’. If the lords of the 5th and 9th lords are related to the lords of the 2nd and 11th Houses or lords, the native would strive to gain wealth by ethical or righteous means.
There are yogas indicating both wealth and poverty which are referred to as Dhanayoga and Daridra- yoga respectively. There could be both Dhanayoga and Daridra- yoga in some horoscopes. In such cases, the native would experience affluence when the Dasas of Dhanayoga-causing planets are in operation and would experience poverty when the Dasas of Daridra-yoga causing planets are in operation.
Poverty-preventing yogas
There are three main yogas countering poverty. They are Anapha, Sunapha and Duradhara. The presence of these three yogas in a horoscope indicates the absence of poverty-causing Kemadruma Yoga.
Anapha Yoga arises when there is at least one planet occupying the 12th House from the Moon; Sunapha Yoga arises when there is a planet occupying the 2nd from the Moon and the Duradhara Yoga is generated when there are planets on either side of the Moon. Kemadruma Yoga arise when there are no planets on either side of the Moon.
Yogakaraka in 2nd or the 11th House
The Yogakaraka being present in the 2nd or the 11th House is an assurance that the native would come into wealth. The conjunction of the 2nd or the 11th lord with the Yogakaraka planet is also a factor that assures wealth.
The presence of the 2nd or 11th lord in the 12th is also a poverty-causing combination. The situation becomes worse when both the 2nd and 11th lords happen to occupy the 12th House.
Other wealth-giving yogas
There are several other prominent favourable yogas that assure wealth.
They are Vasumati, Sankha, Bheri, Mridanga, Kuvera Thulya Rajayoga and Parijata Yogas.
Vasumati Yoga occurs when there are benefics in the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th Houses.
Sankha Yoga arises when the 5th and the 6th lords are in mutual Kendras or quadrants while the Lagnadhipati is strong.
Bheri Yoga is caused when the 9th lord is strong when Venus, Jupiter and the Ascendant lord (Lagnadhipati) are in mutual quadrants.
Mridanga Yoga is generated when the planets are in their own or exaltation signs in quadrants and the Lagna lord is strong.
Kuvera Thulya Rajayoga is formed when Jupiter or the Moon exalted in a quadrant other than the Lagna gives rise to Kuvera Thulya Yoga.
Parijata Yoga comes into effect when the Lagna lord, his dispositor, the latter’s Rasi and Navamsa dispositors are all in their own or their exaltation signs.
