I watched the 75th anniversary celebrations of the UNP with great interest and was impressed by the dignified presentation ably hosted by a young man Shehara Herat who spoke faultless Sinhala and English. The hostess was a young woman who spoke in Tamil who spoke with confidence too. The programme began with messages from two Buddhist prelates, two Hindu and Muslim dignitaries and the Anglican Bishop of Colombo, Bishop Dhushanth Rodrigo. The welcome address was by Ranga Bandara the General Secretary of the party. Later on tributes were paid to all former leaders of the party and showed all development projects done by the party when in power. The final speech was by UNP Leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe who made an excellent speech.  The Voice of Youth was a brilliant idea to have young people from various walks of life making their own contributions to the event.
