A Lasting Impact

Today on the Buzz I feature a team that is making a lasting Impact. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Chapter in Sri Lanka will be organising an international conference on Architecture in collaboration with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Italian Embassy of Sri Lanka on the theme: “Architecture: A Lasting Impact.” 

The event will be held on Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th August 2023, at the Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.
This Conference would be the first of its kind in Sri Lanka, featuring twelve International Starchitects from around the world. They will uplift the morale of Sri Lankan Architects and the Image of Sri Lanka in the eyes of the World, thus boosting the Economy of the Country. 
I was able to speak to the co-team who is making this event possible.  

Tell me about the big event you have planned?

The event we have planned is a groundbreaking conference in Sri Lanka, jointly organised by RIBA Sri Lanka and AIA International, making it the first of its kind in the country. This conference goes beyond mere building design; it explores how architecture profoundly influences people’s lives, perceptions of reality, and emotional experiences. It recognises architecture’s transformative power, affecting individuals, communities, and entire cities. The main objective of the conference is to foster a collaborative and dynamic exchange of ideas, expertise, and wisdom among architects, bringing together architects from both local and international backgrounds. The ultimate aim is to create a revolutionary and harmonious intersection that positively impacts our thriving world. The conference will showcase architects who have left a lasting impact on the field, leaving behind profound and enduring influences on the world. The central theme of the event revolves around the concept of “A Lasting Impact.

The event is scheduled to take place on the 5th and 6th of August 2023 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo.
