Buddhi bags 2nd Lifetime Award

Buddhadasa Galappatty bagged his second Lifetime Achievement Award ’Naatya Keerthi’ for his 50-year contribution to the Theatre, at the State Drama Festival held recently. 


The award-winning poet, columnist, make up artist, lyricist and critic won the first Lifetime Achievement Award - Cyril B. Perera Memorial award for Cinema Writing at the SIGNIS (OCIC) Salutation Awards Nite in 2011.


In the field of Theatre, he has won the Best Make Up artist State award five times - three times consecutively. He was the first to receive the Sri Chandraratna Manawasinghe Memorial Award for Column writing (Edawasa Sondurumaya) at the Godage Literary Festival in 2014. In 1999 Buddhi won the Best poet of the year award at the State Literary Festival for his anthology of poems, Thuruliya Akuru Viya. 


He was again presented  with the Best Newspaper writer award  at the Vidyodaya Literary Awards Ceremony in 2013. 


As a Juror he  has served as Chairman and Member in State Literary Awards, Sarasaviya and Derana Film Awards, Presidential Film Awards and SIGNIS Salutation Awards.  He is the Chairman of the Jury  in Raigam Tele’es  and the State Television Awards Festival. 


As a freelance media personnel and critic, he regularly contributes to the press.
