Game Of Thrones star Emilia Clarke hits out at the show’s costumes. She’s famed for portraying ‘Mother of Dragons’ Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO series. But Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has hit out at the double standards when it came to female costumes on set.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, the actress, 33, complained that the female stars of the show were not afforded the same benefits as male cast members when it came down to the comfort of their outfits.

Throughout the eight series of the shows, Daenerys was seen in all manner of costumes, from skimpy draping for warmer desert settings to thick fur throws for colder environments. However, she admitted that there were double standards when it came to the costumes while filming in hotter climates as male cast members had their own built-in ‘cooling system’ while she could only have her wig lifted up. She said: ‘The guys in the Night’s Watch, Jon Snow, are wearing a woolly mammoth all the time. ‘When we were shooting things in a hot country when they had all of those things on, they had this pump that had its own little generator attached into the costumes. ‘They used it to pump cold water into these pipes and cool them all down so underneath they had this weird kind of cooling system.
‘But girls weren’t allowed that. All I could get was the back of my wig to be lifted up.’

She continued: ‘It’s too hard, I’ve got a wig on, they don’t make cold packs you know, you put ice packs on yourself.’

According to The Sun on Sunday, Emilia and Tom were said to have ‘bonded’ over their love of dogs, with the new couple seen out and about walking her pet pooch Ted.

A source told the publication: ‘Emilia and Tom have really hit it off. He’s already pretty smitten with her and sees a long-term future between them. ‘He used to date [Mission Impossible actress] Rebecca [Ferguson] but they split because she was a bit older than him.’

The insider went on to add: ‘He’s used to hanging out with A-listers because of his job working on high-profile films and his social set.’  MailOnline contacted representatives for comment at the time. It came after Emilia confirmed her single status in May, saying: ‘I am single right now. Dating in this industry is interesting. I have a lot of funny anecdotes, a lot of stuff I can say at a fun dinner. I was [dating actors] but I’m not now.’ Last year it reported that Emilia had split from her director boyfriend Charlie McDowall after about a year of dating, with work commitments being to blame Charlie is now dating Lily Collins and the duo have been seen out and about in Los Angeles in the midst of the global pandemic.
