Today on the Buzz, I speak to the man who is making our toes tap and hips move . Krishan who has been in the music industry for a very long time, is making headlines today with his song ‘Bonikara tharuwak’
Although he has a very challenging 9 to 5 job his love for music keeps his hair from not falling off fully. A true talent and a good friend, he speaks about his new song and more
1. What would you say defines Krishan?
Sensitive , family is life person , extremely fun and serious at times too. Energetic , fun loving and a workaholic.
2. How did you find music?
My dad was a guitarist and his love for music, helped me bring out the musician in me. I then not only participated but won the Sirasa Karaoke Championship in the year 2003 followed by becoming a finalist at TNL onstage 2004. That was the turning point in my music career. My School ( St Joseph’s College col 10) had the biggest impact during my school days since I was a senior trumpet player and the band leader of the school's western band.
3. Tell me about your new song?
Well with God's grace, it is loved by many Sri Lankans all over the world. I was hoping that it will be a song that will entertain listeners and bring happiness to them. The song is not just sung by me. My good friend Malinda Ranasinghe plays a main role with his amazing vocal capabilities as well. Bonikara tharuwak, that’s the name of it… my friend Malinda suggested that we should do a song, a 6x8 that would reach any audience. After a few discussions we were able to get the right lyrics for the song by Ansaf Ameer, music by Kasun Wickremasinghe and a great music video by Dinesh Antony.
4. You have moved from the band Dr. what’s next?
My love for music hasn’t stopped even though I left Doctor 3 years ago.. but I was able to take a long break and that helped me understand what I really needed. And yes playing for a band, was one thing I missed. So the good news is that I will be joining Warehouse Project soon and as a lead singer… waiting to rock the stage again..
5. How competitive is the music world today?
Very! But it’s good… it helps all of us to be better than who we were than yesterday.
6. Who has been your inspiration in music?
My father ( Christopher Perera ), Elton John and Sunil Perera.
7. What is your most-used emoji on your phone?
8. What’s your biggest life regret so far?
No regrets so far. I take responsibility on all decisions I have taken and will never look back. I may fall but I will get up. My family is my strength.
9. What’s something you’re really bad at?
Cooking.
10. What do you look for when finding new friends?
Same vibe as me and humble no matter from where they come.
12. What’s next for Krishan?
Focusing on work and to move up the ladder. But not forgetting my passion for music. Planning on a few more fun songs to be released and looking forward to rocking the stage with Warehouse Project soon.
