My favourite niece, Manouri, on holiday from the UK hosted Dawn, Lala and me to lunch at the Colombo Swimming Club. This always is a favourite venue as their high standard in food  and service remain the same combined with the ambience. The sight and sound of the sea never fail to cast a spell of tranquillity and chase the blues away. We had a pleasant lunch and chitchat. One doesn’t choose one’s friends for their accents, social status or wealth, but simply because one enjoys their company and can relax with them. At this stage of life, it’s important to be with those one can trust and not have to think far ahead before uttering a single word. Lala, Manouri and I share many memories of good times in the past. Manouri, through our being relatives, whose families have been close for generations and Lala from the good times spent together when her parents were alive.
