Covid-19 has caused hard times to many. Many people have either lost their jobs or taken salary cuts, which makes it even more difficult to settle monthly utility bills, pay off bank loans and credit cards, leasing charges etc. On top of this money must be found to put food on the table for the family. Those living on their monthly earnings from fixed deposits have also taken a beating with the interest rates dropping regularly and are finding it difficult to live. Being accustomed to a certain lifestyle learning to budget and live accordingly has resulted in terrible mental strain among the people. The increased cost of living owing to the rising prices of groceries, vegetables, drugs and other basic household requirements are challenges that most of us must face everyday.
The younger generation who have discovered their hidden talents of producing all sorts of goodies in the kitchen are now churning them out and selling them earning some extra money towards their monthly expenses.
Masks which have become an essential item are now produced by many using batiks, handlooms and other fabrics, since it is more economical as they could be reused and are also environmentally friendly. There are many other creations by people that are sold at reasonable prices. On social media and Instagram such food items and creations are advertised for sale.

On a news channel recently, the host rightfully asked us all to act as if the person next to us has the virus and protect ourselves since it is the only way to not to get infected.
Act wisely, patronise these newly sprung industries if possible because they are all trying to make ends meet. Most of all, act sane and stay safe. Year end is almost upon us and there does not seem to be light at the end of this dark tunnel.
