Tom Hiddleston reveals he actually wanted to be THOR
Surprise! Tom Hiddleston has revealed that he never actually auditioned for role of Loki
His role as the villainous Loki has earned him household name status. Yet Tom Hiddleston has revealed that he never actually auditioned for his now-famous role and admitted that he really wanted to be lead character Thor. During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the host shared never-seen-before footage of Tom auditioning for the part of the God Of Thunder.
The clip shows the actor, 38, sporting a luscious head of blonde locks and clad in a grey vest, while wielding Thor's huge hammer in his hand during the audition.
Tom shouts: 'You chose this, for Atlan!', which may have been aimed at his eventual character Loki, whom he has battled with throughout the franchise.
The Night Manager star revealed that the casting process began in 2009 and lasted three months, but ultimately the part went to Chris Hemsworth.
Discussing the audition, he said: 'Basically, at the time, they were looking for sort of less well established actors so that the audience didn't have an association.
'They just wanted people to see these new characters, these new actors. And the cream of it was, if you're over six foot and you've got blonde hair,
you can come and have a pop at it.
'So, I never auditioned for Loki. I only ever auditioned for Thor, which is nuts.'
'We have friends over at Marvel that sent us the original audition footage of you,' Jimmy then shared. 'This has never been shown! This has never
been released.'

After watching the clip, Tom joked: 'I think we can all agree that they cast the right actor.' Tom is set to reprise his role as the God Of Mischief in a spin-off TV show for Disney+ and earlier this year he teased what's to come in the character's small screen debut.
Speaking to MTV, he said: 'I know this character now. I feel that the audience knows him, and playing him truthfully, but presenting him with new challenges, when then I'd have to change him in different ways, is the most exciting aspect of it.
