The Symphony Orchestra of Sri Lanka (SOSL) brought festive cheer to audiences with its much-anticipated Christmas concert, a highlight of the holiday season. Directed by the accomplished Dushy Perera, the SOSL delivered an exhilarating evening of music, blending light classical, jazz, and contemporary pieces in a way that was both familiar and refreshingly unique.

The program featured an eclectic mix of musical highlights, including the haunting yet whimsical Nightmare Before Christmas Suite by Danny Elfman, the vibrant Mazurka from Delibes’ Coppélia, and Robert Sheldon’s heartwarming medley of Christmas favorites, A Most Wonderful Christmas. Adding to the magic were two of Sri Lanka’s most celebrated vocalists, Dinushka Jayawickreme and Shehara Liyanage, whose powerful performances left the audience spellbound. Their repertoire ranged from sacred classics like O Holy Night to jazzy hits such as You’re a Mean One from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and stirring duets like The Prayer and Do You Hear What I Hear. The concert was an unforgettable experience, leaving audiences uplifted and filled with the holiday spirit. For those lucky enough to attend, the SOSL’s Christmas concert was a perfect celebration of the season’s magic and musical brilliance.
