Chunnakam is one of the most important commercial cities after Jaffna in the Northern Peninsula.  Located just 14 kilometres north of Jaffna, Chunnakam is a popular destination for travellers from the South mainly because of the ancient Stupa and Dagoba complex in Kadurugoda and Old Dutch Market in the Chunnakam town centre, well-known for fresh and organic agro products.

Located just a fifteen-minute ride away from ‘The Thinnai Hotel’ in Thiruneveli, ‘Thinnai Organic’ is a farm complex stretched across eleven acres and offers agro based tourism activities. ‘Take a break from the hustle and the bustle of the city and enjoy a wonderful farm-stay experience by yourself or with your loved ones by staying at the Thinnai Organic. ‘Thinnai Organic’ is the agro based tourism arm of the popular ‘Thinnai Hotel’. ‘Thinnai Organic’ offers several outbound activities, corporate training and options for accommodation too. These accommodations include a two-bedroom farmhouse, an authentic farm room and several Glamping tents’ explained Paramanathan Makethanan, the Resident Manager of ‘Thinnai Organic’

Guests staying at ‘The Thinnai Hotel’ can extend their stay for an authentic ecotourism experience enjoying several farm-related activities during the day followed by the quiet peace of the organic farm at night and can experience the authentic farm dining’ added  Mahi

Furthermore, the farm offers space for backpackers to pitch their tents for a secure overnight farm stay. ‘We allow campers to camp only at the specifically identified locations, because of the livestock of the farm. But most of the travellers love to stay overnight at our Glamping tents’ said RM Makethanan, who is popularly known as ‘Mahi’.
The Kudil is Glamping tents for ultimate ‘under the stars’ stay. The tents have a bedroom facility for 13 pax and a verandah and are comfortably appointed with beds, cupboards, a towel/shoe rack and easy chairs. Marutha Manai is the farm's superior room with two queen sized beds, an attached washroom and an open verandah. It is located for a more immersive experience with the farm's organic vegetable gardens, the vegetable preparation area. The Pasumai farmhouse is ideal for a more secluded and calming farm stay. With two bedrooms, a large living space, a private garden and an open verandah, it is the perfect place to harmonise with nature.

Each bedroom of ‘Pasumai’ has two queen sized beds along with attached washrooms and is furnished with all the amenities you will need for a comfortable stay. ‘Thinnai Organic is the region’s pioneer agro tourism hotel, with its organic farm growing a variety of fruit, herbs and vegetables. Furthermore, the farm house has cattle for milk as well as free-roaming organic chickens for farm-fresh eggs and meat. Other livestock includes grass-fed goats and piggery.

‘Guests staying at ‘The Thinnai Hotel’ can extend their stay for an authentic ecotourism experience enjoying several farm-related activities during the day followed by the quiet peace of the organic farm at night and can experience the authentic farm dining’ added  Mahi. The guests can enjoy several farm house culinary experiences.  Television sets have intentionally not been provided in any of the accommodation facilities. Instead they provide Bluetooth speakers so the travellers can connect their portable device and enjoy their own music.
‘Should you need to watch television it is available on the first floor of the Saantham Experience Centre in the Arangaham lounge’ Mahi added.

The farm’s guests can mingle freely and interact with the kitchen’s team at the Saantham in the open kitchen during dining and farming experiences. Furthermore, the lounge ‘Saantham Experience Centre’ is on the first floor overlooking the entire farm, where guests can rest in     the evenings while reading a book or relax while listening to music.

The Saantham Experience Centre with its open kitchen and lush green surroundings sets the perfect ambiance for a unique culinary adventure for guests and their family. ‘The guests can create their own culinary adventure by selecting their own fresh crop from the farm. Then you will cut, chop, mix, grill and cook, guided by our kitchen team. After you are done, you can stroll down to the gazebos or to tables set up in a place of your choice and partake of your culinary masterpiece while reuniting with your friends and family’ said RM Mahi.

Guests can participate in several activities organised by our farm animators, specially created to alleviate our guests’ spirits through fellowship with friends and loved ones. ‘The Climbing wall at the Farm offers Rock Climbing, Zipline, Abseiling, Archery, Target Shooting, Giant ladder and Rope course. Apart from the other excursions, this activity centre and its training programme is the top of the popularity list’’ Mahil said.

Guests also can enjoy a seven-kilometre cross-country trek with an experienced guide.  The trek will culminate at a village home for refreshments from where guests will be transported by vehicle back to Thinnai Organic.
