Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka recently extended its support to the J’pura Premier League (JPL) and stepped forward as the official beverage sponsor of the tournament to promote sporting culture at a university level.

The tournament took place for the 11th consecutive year at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura’s sports grounds. JPL 2016 included cricketing teams from the University of Colombo, University of Kelaniya, Moratuwa NDT, Ocean University, Buddhist and Pali University, Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education in Dehiwala, Galle and Mattakkuliya.
The chief guests at the tournament were cricketing stars Tillakaratne Dilshan, Sachithra Senanayake and Dasun Shanaka. The atmosphere at the tournament was electrifying as rival teams battled to secure their place in the finals. The University of Kelaniya’s team emerged as the winners of the tournament. Adding a burst of refreshment at the event, all team members and spectators alike were kept hydrated and refreshed by ice cold Coca-Cola.

The partnership with the tournament and university enabled Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka to assist the university’s efforts to bring youth from institutions across the country together and foster a spirit of camaraderie and good sportsmanship amongst them. Partnering with highly anticipated sports events that encourage youth to channel their energy and skills in a positive manner is one of the key ways that Coca-Cola inspires, connects and engages with youth across the island, building a lasting bond between them and the sentiments of excitement and happiness that have long been associated with the Coca-Cola brand.
