For the first time ever, Colombo is playing the role of host city for the sensational Miss Intercontinental 2016 international beauty pageant. This year’s edition, the international beauty pageant’s 45th annual event, is conceptualised by Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts and powered by EGB.
Featuring over 70 contestants, with each representing a different country from around the world, Miss Intercontinental 2016 is the first truly global beauty pageant to be held in Sri Lanka. It is also the first time in 20 years that an international beauty pageant of this size will be held in South Asia.
Made using an original and authentic recipe, since 1896, Elephant House Ginger Beer or EGB as it is more popularly known, has been instrumental in promoting Sri Lanka internationally for many years. Besides powering Miss Intercontinental 2016, EGB has also, in the past, facilitated tours of Sri Lanka by contestants of Miss Femina India and Miss Universe China.
“Ceylon Cold Stores is proud to power the 45th Miss Intercontinental 2016 international beauty pageant, which is a prestigious event that will no doubt help Sri Lanka make a splash globally. As a Sri Lankan company, operating locally for more than 150 years, we are excited to take advantage of any opportunity to showcase Sri Lanka’s endemic products, such as EGB, to the rest of the world,” said Ceylon Cold Stores (Elephant House) Head of Beverages/ John Keells Holdings Vice President Daminda Gamlath.
