80th Birthday of ‘Podi Hamuduruwo’

The 80th birth anniversary of Ven. Galboda Gnanissara Nayaka Thera popularly known as ‘Podi Hamuduruwo’ was marked at the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple yesterday. The picture shows President Ranil Wickremesinghe, former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and former President Mahinda Rajapaksa handing over the official Act of Deed declaring the vicinity of the temple as a ‘Puja Nagaraya’ to Ven. Gnanissara Thera. Viharadhikari of the Gangaramaya Temple Ven. Kirinde Assaji Thera is also in the picture. The event was attended by a large number of dignitaries and devotees. Dry rations were also handed over to 500 low income families in the area.
