Army Elite Special Forces get new uniform

A new uniform has been introduced to the Elite Special Forces (SF) of the Sri Lanka Army on Saturday at a ceremony held at the Maduru Oya training camp where 300 SF personnel passed out. 

Five Officers and 295 other ranks of the Elite Special Forces who completed the intensive nine-month long Training Course at Maduru Oya were passed out on Saturday during a ceremony attended by Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva. Lieutenant T.M.T.G.N.M Tennakoon was selected as the Best Student and the Best Gymnast in the Course while Lance Corporal A.G.Aluthgedara was selected as the Best Marksman.   


Army Chief Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva in his brief address reminded the graduates of the importance of their training.   


Speaking to media, Lt. Gen. Silva said the new uniform was introduced from Saturday onward. “It is very important to treat the specialists in a special manner, We intend introducing new uniforms to other units as well,” he said.   He said the elite forces particularly the Commandos and Special Forces have their own expertise with regard to there operational capabilities.   


In reply to query about the Easter Sunday attack, he said that on direction of the President, all necessary investigations are still underway and all necessary security measures are in place for the security of the people in the Country.
