Cabraal says current CB chief has printed more money than he did

Former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal yesterday said his successor Nandalal Weerasinghe has printed more money than he did.  “Current Central Bank Governor had printed money 50 percent more than he did,” Cabraal told journalists.   

“One has to print money when the need arises and the present governor had done it accordingly,” he said.   

Also the former Central Bank chief said he also made an effort to get a debt moratorium from China and India during his tenure as the Governor. “One must try for debt moratorium rather than asking for a write off,” he said.
