Treasure hunters escape arrest

A gang of treasurer hunters carrying out excavations at the Vessagiri archaelogical site in Anurdhapura had fled to escape arrest.   

However the police had seized the suspects’ motorcycles,tools and equipment which the suspects had abandoned. Police had carried out the raid on information received from the security guards of the Department of Archaeology,  

A police team under HQI Anuradhapura police R.M/Jayaweera are conducting further investigations to arret the suspects.
