Ringing in the ears, or tinnitus, is caused by exposure to excessively loud noise, or the aging process. This causes damage to the tiny, sensitive hair cells in the cochlea portion of the inner ear. It’s wise to avoid loud noises or use ear plugs to protect your hearing.
