Merchant Bank Kandy branch relocated

The Kandy branch of Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC (MBSL) has been relocated in a new business premises at No.284 Katugastota Road, Kandy.
The new business premises was declared opened by MBSL Chairman M.R. Shahm, recently. The new building is located in the heart of Mahaiyawa where most of the business activities take place in the Kandy region. Most people in and around the hill capital visit Mahaiyawa to purchase/exchange vehicles, machinery and to obtain loans and other types of financial assistance.   
MBSL Regional Manager Keerthi Ramanayake said that the new location will provide many facilities to the customers with easy access via public transport, adequate parking space and superior customer service of MBSL.
He further said, “The MBSL Kandy branch has come a long way since it was opened in June 1995. We started initially by just offering leasing and hire purchase. But throughout the years our product portfolio has penetrated from leasing and hire purchase to auto loans, personal and business loans to project financing, margin trading, capital market and advisory services, etc.
We were able to uplift many small and medium enterprises in the Kandy region through our micro finance scheme, Siyath Saviya. Now we look forward to go even further with our new infrastructure in place.”
Speaking at the ceremony, MBSL Chairman Shah said, “Sri Lanka’s economy is now shifting to a new dimension. While public infrastructure is being developed by the government, the banking and financial sector must focus on developing the sub urban and rural sectors of the country. Easy access to banking and financial services to the public is very vital in the context of the rapid development taking place. Therefore, restructuring, refurbishing and relocating branch networks are an important aspect of getting closer to the public.”
MBSL Chief Executive Officer T. Mutugala, senior management committee members, staff of Kandy region and other distinguished guests were also present at the occasion.
