Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) yesterday confirmed the 15-man squad who will represent the island in next month’s T20 World Cup in the UAE and Oman.
Sri Lanka’s total of 103 all out was their lowest ever score batting first at home, and the lowest score they have been bowled out for by South Africa.
Chamika Karunaratne has the opportunity to become Sri Lanka’s first ever genuine all-rounder after Sanath Jayasuriya, only if the management around him gives him the opportunity to showcase his talent or else he could easily be another Asela Gunara
Right-arm off-spinner Maheesh Theekshana became the first 21st century-born player from Sri Lanka when he made his ODI debut against the visiting South Africans at the R. Premadasa Stadium, today.
After a close 14-run win in the series-opener last Thurday, Sri Lanka were comfortably beaten in the rain-shortened second ODI on Sunday, losing by 67 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method.
Cricket South Africa said Keshav Maharaj will be captain for the remaining two ODIs, while the captain for the T20I series will be announced later.
’’He has been cleared by Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the Chairman of the Medical Panel of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) and therefore was included in the squads but as he has not been training. He is ’’most likely’’ to be out of the ODI matches
A strong collective bowling performance and a damaging opening partnership helped England record an eight-wicket victory to draw first blood in their T20I home series against Sri Lanka.
New Zealand enjoyed the greatest triumph in their cricket history as they beat India by eight wickets in the inaugural World Test Championship final at Southampton on Wednesday.
