The District Secretary and its administration have taken steps to provide customers with  free parking

Customers arriving at the Colombo District Secretariat (Nila Medura) in Narahenpita can park their vehicles without having to pay a parking fee along the road adjacent to the office complex. The District Secretary and its administration have taken steps to provide customers with free parking upon observing two individuals claiming to be parking attendants; who have attempted to charge parking fees from its customers earlier.
A signboard on the wall reads ‘Only for the vehicles of service recipients visiting ‘Nila Medura’ Administrative complex. No fees will be charged.’ “So whenever those two individuals attempt to charge parking fees the customers and our officials show them this signboard. Narahenpita Police officers also visit this parking stretch on a daily basis. The parking stretch in front of the office complex is a bus stop, so if someone parks a vehicle there they would be fined. Therefore customers can park their vehicles along the road adjacent to the office complex without a hassle,” an official told the Daily Mirror.
Colombo’s car parks have become infamous for its parking attendants whom many claim charge exorbitant parking fees. People also blame them for their unruly behaviour and for being unprofessional when dealing with customers.
