The love of Neney was unique.
She was also very objective, reasonable and had very good judgement, even when she was stubbornly defending her own opinions.

She was an excellent cook, a great housewife, a devoted wife and mother, and above all the best grandmother ever.

Anyone who knew Neney knew her love for cooking and hospitality.

She was always happy in the kitchen making food for her loved ones.

Her love for making satay always grew each time we were there, but she loved seeing other people enjoy her food as much as she enjoyed making it.

I’ve never once left the table without her asking me to eat more.

No one ever left her feeling hungry.

It didn’t take much to make her happy - a phone call, a card, a visit or a kiss before saying goodnight. We were the most important people in the world to her.

I spent most of my time with her playing cards which she would keep in one of her tin biscuit boxes.

Every evening she would be waiting for me with open arms to play with her. She would spend her time teaching me all the card games she knew until we had run out.

Neney would tell me stories of her life and children while browsing over old albums.

She had a collection of them with all her memories that she cherished.

At other times she would spend her nights watching teledramas even though she never fully understood them. She would fall asleep on most times, but would never admit to.

I would watch her spend endless hours reading one of her many books.

She was a strong woman.

She had gone through so much in life, but yet had the ability to hold our family together with all her love.
She would call almost every day asking when we were coming to Sri Lanka or when we would get holidays; always waiting for us.

Even in her last moments she put so much effort to just call out our names and put her hand out for us to hold.
She passed a lot of wisdom down to her children who in turn passed it on to me.

I didn’t get to spend as much time with my grandmother as I would have liked, but she left her family knowing how much she loved us.

Neney, you will be dearly missed, forever loved, never forgotten.

Memories will grow
And memories will fade
But memories of her
Will never go away
