‘Inter-school House Cup IV-2024 Drama Competition’ Young Josephians steal the honours at drama

Seven leading schools from Colombo and its suburbs participated in this competition

St. Joseph’s College Colombo emerged the victor at the ‘Inter-school House Cup IV-2024 Drama Competition’ held recently at the Lionel Wendt in Colombo. This drama competition was organised by Cold Theatre. 
The Josephians’ stage presence was mesmerising. They presented the drama ‘When the Night Flickers’. This is an original script, directed by Tasha De Silva and Dulika Jayamanne. The theme for the drama focused on many of the life experiences of the younger generation. Many among the audience thought that the performance by the Josephians was captivating.
The cast representing the winning team at this competition comprised members of the drama team of Melizan House at St. Joseph’s. These lads were picked for this inter-school drama competition on the merits of winning the Inter-house drama competition at their school.

Seven leading schools from Colombo and its suburbs in the likes of St. Peter’s College, Galle, St. Thomas’ International School, Seeduwa, Mahinda College, Galle, Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, Gateway International School, Nugegoda, Springfield College, Colombo and St. Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 participated in the competition.
The students of St. Joseph’s College also managed to win the following awards: Best Male Portrayal (Master Greshan Johan), Fan Favourite (Master Kevan Dias), Best Original Script and Best Director (St.Joseph’s College, Colombo 10 and awarded to Tasha De Silva and Dulika Jayamanne).
The Josephian team comprised Greshan Johann, Sean Morris, Aaron Gunasekera, Mathew De Zylva, Michael Dian De Rose, Blaine Quyn, Shavin Indran, Thenuk Nanayakkara, Sanuka Ranasinghe, Kayden Jayatillake, Remika De Silva and Kevan Dias.
These young Josephians were trained by Diana De Rose while Rev. Fr. Samesh Anthony made his contributions as the Priest-in-Charge of drama at the school.
