Prof. Karunasekara to talk on AI at Pulimood oration

“The 33rd Pulimood Memorial Oration” will take place on Tuesday, July 23, from 5:15 pm onward at the Jeremias Dias Hall, Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo 4. 

This year’s orator is Prof. Shanika Karunasekera, Deputy Dean (Academic), Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Melbourne, Australia. In her oration titled ‘Artificial Intelligence: The Dream, The Nightmare, and the Reality’ Prof Karunasekera will take us through a journey which starts from the inception and evolution of AI through to the modern state-of-the-art AI applications, a news release connected with the event said. 
According to the organisers, “She also hopes to share her experience on research in the field of AI and ponder on the potential pathways the uncertain future of AI may take with valuable insights on how humanity can collectively prepare for AI’s transformative potential and steer it in a direction that maximizes positive impact.”
