Rotary Club of Kandy Victoria: A New Beginning on Charter Night

The Rotary Club of Kandy Victoria recently hosted its Charter Night, marking the official formation of the club and celebrating its entry into the global Rotary family. 
The event, held with great enthusiasm, brought together local Rotarians, distinguished guests, and community  leaders for an evening of recognition, fellowship, and inspiration.
 Charter Night is a momentous occasion for any Rotary club, as it signifies the club’s official acceptance into Rotary International. It is the culmination of months of planning, organising, and dedication by the founding members. For the Rotary Club of Kandy Victoria, this night was a celebration of their hard work and a testament to their commitment to making a positive  difference in the community.
 Governor Sushena Ranatunga, representing Rotary District 3220, was the chief guest for the evening. In his address, he emphasised the importance of collaboration and service in building stronger communities. Governor Ranatunga also commended the new club for its vision and expressed confidence in its future success. His words of encouragement were a source of inspiration for the members as they embark on their journey of service.
 The induction of the Charter President, Wasantha Withanage, was one of the key moments of the evening. Withanage, a well-respected figure in Kandy, has taken on the responsibility
 of leading the new club with a clear sense of purpose. In his speech, he thanked the Rotary family for their support and outlined his vision for the club’s future. His passion for service and  leadership set the tone for what is expected to be a successful tenure as president.


 The Charter Night also saw the formal induction of the club’s charter members, a group of dedicated individuals from various professional backgrounds. These members have come  together with a shared commitment to Rotary’s values and a desire to serve their community.
 Their diverse skills and expertise will be invaluable as the club begins its work in the coming months.
 The evening was filled with moments of joy and camaraderie, as members and guests mingled and shared their excitement for the future. The atmosphere was one of celebration, but also of  purpose, as everyone present recognised the important work that lies ahead for the Rotary Club of Kandy Victoria. The event included a formal dinner, entertainment, and moments of reflection on the values that guide Rotary clubs around the world: service, leadership, fellowship, and integrity.
 As the Rotary Club of Kandy Victoria looks ahead, there is much to be excited about. With the Charter Night behind them, the members are ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work. The  club’s focus will be on making a tangible difference in the community through a variety of service projects, and they are eager to contribute to the betterment of Kandy and its residents.
 The Charter Night was not just a celebration of the club’s formation, but a launchpad for future.
