A group of inventors have been able to invent a software to locate any bus in transit with the mobile phone.

Directors of Yan Lanka Institution Githaj Kelum Ramawickrema, of Wellethota in Matara, Lakmal Sanjeewa Jayawickreme of Naimbala, and Samaira Tharanga Premananda of Udawalawa, who invented this software, are professionals in the field of computer technology.

The formal presentation of the software took place recently at SANASA reception hall in Nupe, Matara. It coincided with the inauguration ceremony of Yan Lanka Institution as well.

Yan Lanka Institution has for the first time in Sri Lanka opened a new chapter by introducing the “Smart Bus Service”. Their service is already in operation in the Southern Province. Eight buses are included in the service; the first plying between Wellethota and Matara.

The new invention provides information on the time of arrival, departure and the destination of buses. The parents will be able to know precisely the location of the school bus transporting their children. Reservation of seats is another facility made available.  These facilities are available to the public if they log on to https://www.yanlanka.com

The inventors said that this software being used in private buses at present would be expanded soon to the SLTB Buses as well. At present this software is in use in buses in Matara- Wellethota, Urubokka, Pasgoda, Pitabeddara, Akuressa, Weligama, Dikwella, Kekanadura, Ranna and Angunukolapelessa. Those present at the launch of the software were Matara Asst. Divisional Secretary Anura Wijesekara, President of Matara District Private Bus Operators Janaka Wimasekara, Secretary Ariyapala Ranawaka, President of All Ceylon School Children Transporter Association L.Malsri De Silva and former Principal of Beliatta Technical College Deepthi Damayanthi.
